Mortgage Bankers Association Weekly Update

Market Composite Index: (loan application volume) increased 14.3 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis from one week earlier

Refinance Index: increased 21.8 percent from last week’s holiday adjusted index and increased 73.9 percent from last week’s unadjusted index

Purchase Index: increased 0.8 percent from one week earlier.

Freddie Mac Weekly Mortgage Rate Commentary:

Fixed-Rates Down Slightly While ARMs Are Mixed

30-year fixed-rate mortgage: Averaged 5.06 percent with an average 0.7 point for the week ending January 14, 2010, down from last week when it averaged 5.09 percent. Last year at this time, the 30-year FRM averaged 4.96 percent.

The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage: Averaged 4.45 percent with an average 0.6 point , down from last week when it averaged 4.50 percent. A year ago at this time, the 15-year FRM averaged 4.65 percent.… Continue
